WASHINGTON, D.C. -- U.S. Senator Jim Bunning (R-KY) today issued the following statement in regards to the passage of the so called “American Recovery and Investment Act” which passed the House of Representatives last night and did not garner any Republican support.
“This is not a stimulus package, but a massive government spending bill that my grandchildren and great grandchildren will have to pay for,” said Bunning. “This bill will cost $350 billion over the next ten years just in interest alone. If President Obama, Speaker Pelosi, and Majority Leader Reid wanted to really stimulate the economy they would permanently cut taxes on individuals, investment, and businesses. There is a disconnect between the Obama administration and Congress. While President Obama is preaching bipartisanship, the House and Senate Democrats are practicing partisanship.”
